Glynn Lloyd, Founder & Chief Executive Officer
City Fresh Foods has grown an average of 20% a year for 15 consecutive years. City Fresh Foods has won such awards as Small Business Administration's young entrepreneur of the year, and Boston's black and white business profile award. City Fresh has been featured in many prominent media outlets including National Public Radio, CNN, PBS's NOW, Entrepreneur and INC. magazines. More importantly, City Fresh Foods remains a warm and supportive environment in which local residents help manage and grow the company.
City Fresh Foods’ is Glynn’s second business. He started a landscape business when he was 12 years old reaching sales of $100,000 by the time he graduated high school.
Glynn, a graduate of Boston University has worked as a teacher in the Louisiana Public School system teaching 5th and 6th grades. He has also taught G.E.D. to younger and older adults in Boston.
Glynn has a history of community activism; from local million man march organizing to holding positions of board chair for the Four Corners Main Streets, Sportsmens Tennis Club and The Food Project. Glynn’s passions include urban agriculture in which he recently worked with a select group of gardeners to grow food for City Fresh and consults for innovative local non-profits such as Red Tomato and Boston Rising. Glynn continues to lend vision and passion to City Fresh Foods.
Sheldon Lloyd, VP of Business Development
After graduating from Boston University with a major in Business Administration, Sheldon put his academic training to work for the Eastman Kodak Company where he worked in sales for seven years. He was eventually responsible for managing the New York City territory. At Kodak, he honed his sales, leadership, and technological know-how.
With substantial experience working for a multi-national company, Sheldon couldn’t resist his entrepreneurial spirit. In 1995, he co-founded Ginger Kids, a socially responsible gourmet cookie company that shared proceeds with the Starlight Foundation. Ginger Kids, based in Buffalo, NY had distribution in major department stores such as Macy’s, Barney’s , and Bloomingdales. He also organized and promoted special events for young minority business professionals.
Just as Ginger Kids was on its way, City Fresh Foods was growing remarkably fast and Sheldon’s brother Glynn needed someone with his skills and energy to bring City Fresh Foods to the next level. In 1996, Sheldon joined City Fresh Foods. Sheldon has been involved in every aspect of the company and currently focuses on customer retention and business development.
JR Mercer, General Manager
JR’s food service experience extends back 25 plus years. He was one of the original managing partners in both Boston Market and The Wrap, helping to establish these local brands as retail powerhouses. Most recently he executed daily operations for multiple Wendy Restaurants in New England. He has brought his attention to quality and systems to City Fresh Foods Inc. taking over the execution of our operations in the summer of 2009.
Dillion, Production Manager
Dillion started at City Fresh Foods as a dishwasher soon after the company started. He worked in every position at City Fresh Foods, Inc. eventually working himself into the position of Production Manager. Today he oversees a staff of ten in the preparation and production of all the company’s center of the plate items.
John Randall, Co-Production Manager
John is an Executive Chef with 25 years experience in restaurants, hotels and private clubs. Two highlights of his career is being the private chef for Lady Bird Johnson and winning Grand Prize for his hot sauce in Austin’s Hot Sauce Contest (the largest in the U.S.A.) for 12 consecutive years.
Luis Torres, Delivery Manager
Luis started as a driver at City Fresh Foods, Inc. His calm demeanor and sharp mind quickly propelled him into management where he oversees a delivery department of 25.
Jose Tavares, Logistics Manager
Jose started as a driver the first year City Fresh Foods began. He worked his way up to Delivery Manager and then shifted to Logistics Manager the beginning of 2008. Jose has helped establish many of the companies core operating systems.
Rosemary de La Cruz, Director of Finance
Rosemary is a ten year veteran of City Fresh Foods, Inc. administrative department. In October, 2009 she took over as Director of the finance department.
Jamaal Leek, Office Director
Jamaal came to City Fresh Foods with variety of experiences including establishing fraud claim protocols saving Arbella Insurance Group millions of dollars and managing a high volume Papa Johns’ that supplied Vanderbilt University Stadium and the then expanding Tennessee Titans. At City Fresh Foods, Inc. he manages the company’s administration.
Dannie Kelly, Account Manager
Dannie was the founding Executive Chef of Community Servings an innovative meal program and went on to found and manage his own catering company. Prior to this he spent time as managing chef for what is now Aramark Food Services. After a stint in sales, Dannie returned to food service and currently manages City Fresh Foods' customer service department.
